In a series of happy coincidences, my life took an unexpected turn in the Vanderbilt School of Nursing Master’s program where I was able to secure a spot in the psychiatric/mental health specialty. Much of my practice has been in community mental health which has been fulfilling, enlightening and educational. I’m comfortable with diagnosing and providing medication for depression, anxiety, bipolar, ADHD and sleep issues and providing education about the medication.

The initial appointment will consist of a comprehensive history of past mental health care, past/current medication, past/current mood symptoms, medical history and a discussion of appropriate medication. I will suggest things in addition to medication that can be helpful for mood symptoms. I also want to get to know you: what interests you, what hobbies you have and what you do for enjoyment.
My goal is for you to be comfortable in the appointment and confident with the treatment plan. I want you to feel that you are being heard and your questions and/or concerns are being answered. I never take for granted that people tell me their stories and share difficult, joyful and “all things in between” life events with me. I look forward to meeting you.
