No Surprises Disclosure & Patient Rights

Overview of Patient Rights to Transparent Billing and Good Faith Estimates

Under the federal No Surprises Act, Tandem Telehealth Inc. and Tandem Telehealth Medical Group, PLLC ("Tandem Telehealth") prioritize transparency in healthcare billing, ensuring patients fully understand and anticipate the financial costs associated with their medical care.

Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE)

All self-pay patients (patients without insurance or those opting not to use insurance benefits) have the right to request and receive a detailed "Good Faith Estimate" (GFE) that clearly outlines anticipated charges for healthcare services before such services are delivered. This estimate includes all anticipated expenses such as consultations, medical assessments, diagnostic tests, prescribed medications, medical equipment, and related healthcare facility fees.

If you schedule healthcare services at least three (3) business days in advance, Tandem Telehealth will provide a written GFE within one (1) business day following scheduling. If scheduling occurs at least ten (10) business days in advance, the GFE will be provided in writing within three (3) business days after scheduling. Additionally, you may request a GFE prior to scheduling any service; we commit to providing you this estimate within three (3) business days of your request.

Determination of Estimated Costs

To ensure accuracy in billing expectations, Tandem Telehealth maintains a clearly defined, standardized fee schedule specifically applicable for self-paying patients. For patients who intend to use insurance coverage, our billing specialists will directly communicate with the patient's insurance provider to determine the specific benefits, deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, and any other anticipated patient responsibilities, offering the most precise possible estimate of expected financial responsibility.

Patient Protection Against Unexpected ("Surprise") Medical Billing

Tandem Telehealth explicitly avoids out-of-network billing practices. Our providers do not bill for out-of-network services, as we focus strictly on transparency and providing care within clearly defined, predictable cost structures. Consequently, patients receiving care at Tandem Telehealth will not experience unexpected "balance billing," a situation where a healthcare provider charges the patient for costs exceeding insurance reimbursement levels.

Procedures for Resolving Billing Disputes and Concerns

If a patient believes that they have been incorrectly charged or the actual costs exceed the Good Faith Estimate provided by $400 or more, we encourage patients to immediately contact Tandem Telehealth’s administrative team. Our staff is prepared and committed to reviewing billing concerns thoroughly and resolving disputes quickly, fairly, and efficiently. We recommend that patients retain a copy or image of their Good Faith Estimate and billing statements to support prompt resolution.

Compliance and Patient Education Commitment

Tandem Telehealth adheres strictly to the regulations set forth by the No Surprises Act, providing upfront and transparent pricing details to patients, especially those without insurance coverage. As part of our compliance commitment, we clearly and proactively communicate patients' rights regarding billing transparency and protections against surprise medical charges.
